(Development of a logit model to examine savings behavior in the central region of Mexico according to household profiles)
The objective of this research is to examine savings behavior in households in the Central Region of Mexico (SEDATU, 2015) taking into consideration their socioeconomic profile. Household profiles (Cruz, 2017) are proposed using decision trees, while the probability of saving (ENIGH, 2014) is calculated with a logit model. The results of the model showed that the variables are significant, and the probability of household savings level is determined. Unlike the LCH (Modigliani, 1963), it is recommended to identify income and expenditure profiles with a segment of the population that goes beyond the age groups of the household heads. In certain age groups, it is observed that those with a lower level of education have a greater proportion of households with the possibility of saving. This behavior is limited to subsequent research for the study of the effect of other variables. The framing of the regional environment contributes to analyzing savings behavior, according to household profiles, with a higher level of specificity. Finally, it is shown that with the proposed variables, the probability of saving in the household increases.
